Men's Tennis Heads to Region III Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team begins play Thursday in the ITA Region III National Indoor Qualifying in Memphis, Tenn., with senior Brandon Allan in action in qualifying play.

Allan is the only Blue Raider in qualifying play. Five other Blue Raiders - Andreas Siljestrom, Kai Schledorn, Marco Born, Greg Pollack and Anant Sitaram - all begin action Friday in the main draw singles, while doubles team of Allan-Schledorn and Born-Siljestrom will also take part. Siljestrom, ranked 63rd nationally, is seeded 11th in the field, while Allan-Schledorn, ranked 19th, is the No. 4 seed in doubles.

Two of the nation's top 10 singles players will be in the field at The Racquet Club of Memphis, and 24 of the nation's top 120 players will also be in the field. Kentucky's Jesse Witten, currently ranked third in the nation, is the tournament's top seed. Witten is joined from the nation's top 10 by Auburn's Zoltan Pelva, ranked sixth nationally and the tourney's No. 2 seed.

The qualifying draw begins play on Thursday, with the main draw slated to start Friday morning, utilizing courts at Club Six-50 (formerly Wimbledon) and The Racquet Club of Memphis. Full results may be accessed at gotigersgo.com.
