Men's Tennis Set for Region III Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Six Middle Tennessee men's tennis players will begin play in main draw singles and doubles at the ITA Region III National Indoor Qualifying in Memphis, Tenn., Friday.

Junior Brandon Allan, who was scheduled to play in qualifying on Thursday, received a bid into the main draw as the third alternate late Wednesday night. Allan will take on Tennessee Tech's Shunswke Shimizo.

Also in Round of 128 play Friday morning, senior Anant Sitaram will take on James Spence of Memphis; senior Greg Pollack plays Murray State's Jeff Lester; sophomore Kai Schledorn faces Tennessee's Kiril Tcherweniachki; and soiphomore Marco Born plays LSU's Paul White.

Sophomore Andreas Siljestrom, ranked 63rd nationally and seeded 11th in the bracket, draws a first-round bye and will play the winner of Alex Bucewicz (Memphis) and Nolan Polley (Kentucky).

In doubles action that begins Friday evening, Allan and Schledorn, ranked 19th nationally and seeded third in the draw, receive a first-round bye in Round of 64 play and will face the winner of Gustavo Anzola-Dirk Prinsloo (UT Martin) and Jonah Kane-West-David Goulet (Tulane) at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Born and Siljestrom, seeded ninth in the field, also receive a first-round bye and play the winner of David Canudas-Tommy Ostenson (Southern Miss) and Andre Maier-Sebnastian Falk (Arkansas-Little Rock) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
