MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee will travel to Arlington, Texas to compete in the UT-Arlington Hilton Invitational this weekend.

The Blue Raiders will play South Carolina State, host UTA and Duke in the round-robin style tournament.

Middle Tennessee improved to 6-0 after defeating Lipscomb, Iowa State and Loyola-Marymount 3-0 in the Blue Raider Bash a week ago. Junior Leslie Clark was named MVP of the tournament and was joined on the all-tournament team by senior Ashley Asberry, junior Ashley Waugh and sophomore Izabela Kozon.

The Blue Raiders knocked down 125 kills averaging 13.89 per set. The squad also had 18.5 blocks on the weekend averaging 2.06 per set. Middle Tennessee had just eight reception errors in the three matches with 133 total digs and 15 service aces.

Middle Tennessee will play South Carolina State on Friday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. to begin play this weekend.

South Carolina State won its first match of the season against Hampton 3-2 but has not posted a win since. The Lady Bulldogs have only won two sets in the seven matches since including losses to East Carolina, Marist and UNC-Greensboro.

The Blue Raiders will then face UTA at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Duke at 7:30 p.m. that evening to round out the tournament.

UT-Arlington won its first match of the South Florida Asics/Powerade Challenge but then lost to San Francisco and UC-Santa Barbara to round out the weekend. Bianca Sauls leads the team at the net as she is hitting .319 with 64 kills averaging 2.56 kills per set. Defensively, Emily Shearin leads the team with 28 blocks as she is averaging 1.12 blocks per set.

Duke is 4-2 on the season with wins over Seton Hall and Georgia. The Blue Devils defeated Georgia 3-2 at the Duke Invitational. Rachel Moss is leading the team offensively with 89 kills as she is averaging 3.87 kills per set. Defensively, Duke is led by Jourdan Norman who has 37 total blocks and is averaging 1.61 blocks per set.
