Cowden performs well in finals
Blue Raiders turn attention to ITA All-American
September 22, 2008 · MT Athletic CommunicationsSophomore Richard Cowden was the only Blue Raider to compete on the final day of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships hosted by the University of Georgia.
Cowden fell to Lander's Cheharyar Wali 6-1, 7-5 in the Division II finals.
"I'm really happy with how all of the guys performed. The Southern Int is probably one of the biggest college tournaments outside of the national tournaments. For Richard to make the finals in second flight is great," head coach David McNamara said. "He had great performance to make final and really happy with the way the guys played."
Middle Tennessee will be back in action on Sept. 27 when it travels to - to compete in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
"We take a lot of confidence from the first tournament of the year. Things are looking fairly ITA All-American. I expect them to continue to perform well over the next five weeks in the different tournaments," McNamara said.
