Lady Raiders end fall with a 5th place finish at John Kirk; Durham 3rdOctober 26, 2004 · MT Media Relations
True freshman Taryn Durham (Glasgow, Kent.) was the highlight for the Lady Raiders as she fired a 1-over par 73 on Tuesday to finish third overall. Durham, who tied for the third-best round of the day, ended the fall season by finishing in the top 10 in three of the four tournaments and in the top five twice.
As a team, the Lady Raiders were just one shot out of fourth place and four shots from third. Campbell won the event with a 598, while host Georgia State came in second with a 603. UAB was third with a 606 and Yale ended the event in fourth with a 609.
"I was very pleased with the way we played today," said Head Coach Rachael Short. "With such a young lineup, you could not ask for anything better. We had some opportunities out there today to maybe squeeze out a third place finish, but just did not convert. This should give us a lot of momentum heading into our spring season."
Finishing behind Durham was sophomore Jenny Kim. The Seoul, Korea, native played in her first tournament of the fall and tied for 15th overall with a 152. In the final round she posted an impressive 74.
