Blue Raiders prepare for North Texas, Denver

MT will play rival WKU on Monday after road trip

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -The Blue Raiders will close out their four-match road stretch when they travel to Denver and Denton, Texas this weekend.

Middle Tennessee (14-3, 4-1 SBC) will look to extend its four-match win streak before returning home to face Western Kentucky at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20.

Junior Ashley Mead currently leads the team in kills with 218 followed by sophomore Izabela Kozon who has 213.

Senior Ashley Asberry has been the more consistent force at the net with a hitting percentage of .482 with 203 kills. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native has 79 total blocks on the season to add depth to the defense. In league action, Asberry has a 65 kills for a team high .509 hitting percentage.

Junior Leslie Clark guides the offense and is quickly closing in on her third 1,000 assists season with 755 assists thus far in 2008. Clark also has a team high 23 service aces and 38 total blocks.

Defensively, the Blue Raiders are led by junior libero Ashley Waugh, who has received Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors twice this season. Waugh currently has 236 digs as she is averaging 3.69 per set.

On Monday, the Blue Raiders will be looking to avenge its one conference loss to the Hilltoppers on Monday. The match will open a four-match home stand for Middle Tennessee, who will play all three league Louisiana schools that weekend.
