Blue Raiders ready for tournament

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The women's tennis program will be back in action close to home this weekend as they compete in the June Stewart Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt.

Junior Natalie Araya will begin singles play when she faces Catherine Newman of host Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. on Friday in the Jason Valentine Metamaterials draw.

Then in the Travis Young draw freshman Taylor Coffey will play Lauren Sabacinski of William and Mary at 2:30 p.m.

Senior Andrea Herrera will face Stephanie Heller of Indiana at 1 p.m. in the Gary Neal draw while senior Marlene Chemin faces Carmen Pop of William and Mary in the Edward Collins Invitational draw.

In the Friday mix and matches, freshman Alex Dachos will play UT-Martin's Belisa DeBrito at 1 p.m. while junior Anna Djananova will play Ernestine Korrnhof also of UTM.

In doubles action, Djananova will team up with Chemin to face Emily Dudzik and Yumi Matsuto of Western Michigan at 10 a.m.

Also at 10 a.m. Dachos and fellow freshman Marietta Bigus will play Jenny Nalepa and April Kerr of Western Michigan.

Araya and Coffey will play Heather Steinbauer and Courtney Ulery of Vanderbilt at 11:45 a.m.

Results of the tournament will be posted on www.goblueraiders.com as soon as they become available.
