McCann performs well for Blue Raiders
MT continues play at ITA Championships
October 17, 2008 · MT Athletic CommunicationsJunior Alex McCann won his first match of the ITA Southeast Championships hosted by the University of Kentucky on Saturday.
McCann began the tournament by defeating Kennesaw State's Michael Langel 7-5, 6-4. In the second round, McCann fell to Florida's Dan Cash 6-2, 6-2.
In the doubles quarterfinals, sophomores John Peers and Richard Cowden fell to top-seeded Jamie Hunt and Nate Schnugg of Georgia, who are currently fourth in the country, 8-5.
Cowden fell to Sebastian Carlsson of LSU 6-4, 6-3 in his singles match.
Sophomore Kyle Wishing fell to LSU's James Cluskey, who is seeded 17th in the tournament, 6-2, 6-1.
Peers, who is currently 90th in the country, fell to Julien Gauthier of LSU 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 in the second round of play after receiving a bye in the first round.
