Raiders Strong Again at UT Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee won five of seven singles and all three doubles match over Vanderbilt and Kentucky, respectively, Saturday during the second day of play at the UT Fall Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.

Middle Tennessee swept the doubles matches for the second straight day and fared well again in singles against Vanderbilt, a team that usually gives the Blue Raiders fits.

The Blue Raiders won five of seven singles matches in the morning against Vanderbilt.

Andreas Siljestrom, ranked 63rd, defeated No. 62 Matt Lockin, 7-5, 6-4, while Marco Born was a 7-6 (4), 6-2, winner over Andy Mack. Greg Pollack got back on the winning track with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, victory against Ryan Preston, and Anant Sitaram won his second straight match with a 6-3, 6-0, triumph over Jason Pinsky. Brandon Allan won again, 6-4, 7-6 (1), over Nathan Sachs.

Vandy's Scott Brown, ranked 35th, defeated Kai Schledorn, 1-6, 3-6, and Evan Dufaux won 3-6, 4-6, over Marc Boiron.

In the afternoon, 19th-ranked Allan and Schledorn defeated Kentucky's Nate Emge and Nolan Polley, while Born and Siljestrom won 8-5 over UK's Matt Emery and Tigran Martirosyan. Pollack and Sitaram won 8-4 over UK's Marr Allinder and Jason Mallaiah.

The Blue Raiders finish play in their fall event on Sunday.
