MT Media Relations

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee swept all three doubles matches for the third day in a row and won 6-of-7 singles matches against Kentucky to finish the fall season on a very strong note Sunday at the UT Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.

For the third straight day the Blue Raiders swept the three doubles matches, this time defeating a pair of teams from Tennessee and one tandem from Virginia.

Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn, ranked 19th, defeated Tennessee's Ockie Oosthuizen and Ben Rogers, 8-6, a twosome that had eight wins this fall over ranked opponents and won the Southern Intercollegiate Championship doubles title in September. Greg Pollack and Anant Sitaram won 8-5 over UT's Rawl Martin and Kiril Tcherveniachki, while Marco Born and Andreas Siljestrom defeated Virginia's Jarrett Chirico and Stephen Rozek, 8-5.

In singles play, Allan won for the third day in a row with a 6-1, 7-6 (1) decision over Kentucky's Nolan Polley, while Born defeated 53rd-ranked Tigran Martirosyan, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8. Pollack won 6-0, 3-6, 10-3 over Marcus Sundh, and Schledorn took a 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 decision against Alex Hume. Siljestrom, ranked 63rd, defeated 119th-ranked Nate Emge, 6-2, 6-2, and Sitaram won for the third straight day, as well, leading Matt Emery, 7-6, 2-1, before the Wildcat retired. The only for the Middle Tennessee was Marc Boiron's 2-6, 1-6, decision to UK's Jason Mallaiah.

"I am very pleased with the way we ended the fall season and our showing against some of the SEC's best teams this weekend," Blue Raider head coach Dale Short said. "We showed that we can play good, consistent tennis and look forward to the fall rankings coming out in January."

Middle Tennessee will now prepare for the spring dual match schedule, which begins January 29 against Chattanooga and Belmont at the Racquet Club of Murfreesboro.
