MOBILE, Ala. - Middle Tennessee's men's golf team shot a 609 (304-305) on the opening day of the Fall Beach Classic to stand in 10th place after 36 holes. The event is being held at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course.

Louisville and Southern Miss share the lead with a 576, while Louisiana-Monroe is in third at 579. UT-Arlington is fourth with a 585 and Davidson rounds out the top five with a 596.

"We simply did not play very well out there today," said Head Coach Johnny Moore. "We would make a mistake and then try to get it all back on the next hole and that just made matters worse. Hopefully we can come out and shoot a solid round on Tuesday and build a little momentum heading into the spring."

Blake Bivens led the Blue Raiders with a 150 to tie for 26th overall, while three of his teammates all shot a 153 to tie for 34th. Nick Bailes, Kenny Green and Mac Lee all shot nine over par.

Junior Josh Nelms tied for 48th with a 156 to complete the Blue Raider scoring.

Middle Tennessee will play its final round of the fall season beginning Tuesday morning.
