Chattanooga got 16 kills from Leslee Ball and 13 each from Amanda Durfee and Lindsey Galloway. Durfee had her 12th straight double-digit kill night with 30 digs for her fifth double-double. Dominique Mayor contributed 20 digs and Galloway 11. Bethany Herndon picked up 58 set assists. Sarah Bass and Galloway both had two aces.
Middle Tennessee rolled in game one behind six kills from Andressa Lyra and a .277 hitting average. The Blue Raiders had a little tougher time in the second game but still managed a 30-25 win as UTC hit just .087.
Chattanooga roared back after the break and hit .389 in game three behind five kills each from Galloway and Ball and 10 digs by Durfee. The Lady Mocs had the lead late in game four and had two shots at game point but could not close it out.
Middle Tennessee scored three straight points to turn a 29-27 deficit into a 30-29 edge. After UTC tied it at 30-all, Deckard had back-to-back kills to end the match.
Lyra had 14 kills and 14 digs. Notre Dame product Megan Sumrell had 57 assists to go with nine digs.
The Blue Raiders head back into Sun Belt Conference play on Friday when Middle Tennessee heads on the road to take on Arkansas-Little Rock. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
