Blue Raiders continue play at ITA Region Championships
Play resumes on Friday morning
October 23, 2008 · MT Athletic CommunicationsWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Blue Raiders continued competition at the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Thursday.
Senior Andrea Herrera lost her qualifying match 6-0, 5-7, 6-3 to Valerie Behr of UNC-Greenville.
Freshman Taylor Coffey lost to Maria Sorbello of Tennessee 6-0, 6-2 in her qualifying draw match.
Jelena Durisic of North Carolina defeated freshman Marietta Bigus 6-2, 6-1.
In the main draw, which begins on Friday, Oct. 24, junior Natalie Aray will play Alexandra Luc of Clemson.
Herrera teamed with junior Anna Djananova in doubles action. The pair received a bye in the first round and will face Laura Reichert and Haley Hemm of North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 24.
Bigus and freshman Alex Dachos fell 8-4 to Catherine Newman and Keilly Ulery of Vanderbilt. Then Coffey and Araya lost to Keri Wong and Ida Hedziselimovic of Clemson 8-1.
Play at the ITA Southeast Region Championships will resume on Friday, Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m.
