The Blue Raiders' second-round 298 tied for the fifth-lowest round of the 26 played by the 13-team field Monday. Middle Tennessee is 31-over 607 for the tournament and tied for fifth, five shots out of third. FIU leads the tournament with a 6-over 582, five shots in front of Florida Southern (587) entering Tuesday's final round.

"We battled back in the second round to give ourselves a chance," Middle Tennessee coach Chris Adams said. "The course played tough today as evidenced by the scores but we had some players to hold their own and battle."

One such player was freshman Karisa Akin. She played the course even in the second round and stands 6-over 150 through the first two rounds. Akin is 14th overall.

Senior Mallory Bishop also turned in a good first day. Bishop is 7-over and tied for 15th. Her play was highlighted by a 1-over 73 in the first round. Freshman Steph Gough is tied for 24th at 9-over 153. Senior Leigh Wilkins demonstrated fight and determination with a 1-over 73 in the second round after posting an 82 in her opening round and is tied for 34th overall. Sophomore Morgan Hale was 16-over in the first two rounds.

Middle Tennessee concludes its fall schedule with Tuesday's final round.
