Personal Reasons Sideline Benjamin for 2004-05 Season

December 14, 2004 · MT Media Relations
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's basketball Head Coach Stephany Smith announced today Amber Benjamin will not play for the Lady Raiders this season.

Benjamin, who was scheduled to join the team on December 18 against South Carolina, will not play this season due to personal family reasons. Benjamin transferred to Middle Tennessee last fall from Auburn, but had to sit out last season and was expected to join the Lady Raiders after the fall semester.

The Lady Raiders also lost the services of sophomore guard Monique Martin before the season began when she was indefinitely suspended. The team dwindled to nine players after sophomore Jenne Webb decided to leave the team after the Alabama game. Middle Tennessee got a boost in ranks when Ciara Gray, who had decided to forgo her senior season, rejoined the team two weeks ago.

Middle Tennessee will begin a seven-game home stand when the team hosts South Carolina on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
