MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's head baseball coach Steve Peterson has returned home after open heart surgery last week.

Peterson went home on Saturday and is resting comfortably under his doctor's care.

"I appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers for me and my family during this time from the Middle Tennessee family and Murfreesboro community," Peterson said.

"We look forward to having Coach Peterson back in the dugout for the upcoming 2009 season," Director of Athletics Chris Massaro said. "Right now it is important for him to rest and follow his doctor's instructions and not rush anything."

The family asks that all cards and letters be sent to the athletic department (MTSU Box 90, Murfreesboro, TN 37132).
