MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will bring its 5-2 record into Cullowhee, N.C., for a 4 p.m. (EST) Sunday matchup with Western Carolina.
The game will be third in the last two seasons between the two schools, who last met in opening round action of the Postseason WNIT in Murfreesboro, Tenn., with the Blue Raiders claiming a 104-69 triumph. The Lady Catamounts won the regular-season contest, 77-71, inside the Murphy Center.
Middle Tennessee, which is receiving votes in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Polls this week, will be looking to rebound from a 67-44 home loss to No. 13/15 Louisville Thursday night.
Junior Alysha Clark continues to pace the Lady Raiders with 23.9 ppg and 9.4 rpg through the opening seven games. The two-time reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week tallied a team-high 18 points against the Cardinals in her last game, marking the sixth time in seven tilts this season she has reached double figures.
MT will conclude the two-game road swing with its second matchup against an SEC foe in the early season when it travels to Knoxville, Tenn., to face No. 7/9 Tennessee at 7 p.m. (CST) Thursday.
