MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will look to extend its current three-game winning streak in its final non-conference game of the season at Tennessee Tech at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cookeville, Tenn.
The Blue Raiders won their final three contests before the holidays, all at home, to push their record to 8-4. Middle Tennessee ended the stretch with an 82-46 triumph over Troy to open the Sun Belt Conference campaign.
Junior Alysha Clark leads MT with 23.8 ppg and 8.4 rpg, including four double-doubles and a 31-point, 10-rebound effort against the Trojans in her last game. Clark was recently mentioned as one of the 50 members of the early season watch list for the Naismith Trophy, college basketball's national player of the year award.
Tennessee Tech will enter Sunday's game with a 3-7 record. The Golden Eagles dropped a 74-67 decision in their last outing, last Sunday at Southern Illinois. Blair Bowens is the team's leading scorer at 14.1 ppg for head coach Amy Brown's squad.
Middle Tennessee has won three straight in the series since head coach Rick Insell assumed the reigns prior to the 2005-06 season and seven of the last 10 overall.
