Blue Raiders close out 2008 with trip to Denton

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will close out the 2008 calendar year with a 1 p.m. Wednesday matchup against Sun Belt Conference foe North Texas at The Super Pit in Denton, Texas.
The Blue Raiders enter the game winners of their last four, including a 101-66 victory at Tennessee Tech Sunday in the final non-conference contest of the campaign to push their overall record to 9-4. The Lady Raiders also captured an 82-46 triumph against Troy to begin Sun Belt action during the stretch in their only league game thus far.
Middle Tennessee was led by 25 points from leading scorer Alysha Clark against Tennessee Tech. Clark, a two-time Sun Belt Player of the Week selection, ranks fourth nationally in scoring at 23.9 ppg and has been recognized on the early season watch list for the Naismith Trophy.
Jackie Pickel added a career-best 23 points versus the Golden Eagles, 18 of which came in the second half. She tallied five 3-pointers, one-half of the team's total, in the win.
North Texas enters Wednesday's affair with a 5-7 overall record, including 1-1 in league competition. The Mean Green are led by Amber Jackson with 16.8 ppg and 11.0 rpg.
The contest will be the 12th in the series with Middle Tennessee owning a 7-4 edge. The Blue Raiders have won the last two meetings.
