Blue Raiders ink 25 players on signing day
February 2, 2005 · MT Media Relations"This was a very important day at Middle Tennessee," said McCollum. "It has been quite a struggle the past 24 hours, but everything worked out and we have what I believe to be a very special class. Our coaching staff did a great job of bringing in some highly-regarded players and they deserve a lot of credit. This is always a fun day, but now we have to start focusing on the 2005 season."
Once again, Georgia was the dominant state as 10 players hail from the Peach state. The Blue Raiders also signed six from the state of Florida to give them 15 from the sunshine state the past two years. The Blue Raiders also inked four from Tennessee, two from Alabama, two from California and one from Mississippi. McCollum and his assistants inked a total of 21 high school athletes and four junior college players. There are 12 high school players who earned all-state honors, five who earned player of the year awards, and 20 were rated two stars or better by Rivals.com and five earned three stars by various recruiting outlets.
The program will now prepare for Blue Dawn, the team's off-season conditioning session which begins on Feb. 15, and spring drills that are scheduled to get underway on March 15.
The 2005 season opener is scheduled for Sept. 3 at SEC foe Alabama.
