Middle Tennessee to begin three-game set against Louisiana schools
Blue Raiders will be home twice next week
January 23, 2009 · Athletic CommunicationsMURFREESBORO, Tenn - The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will take a one-game break from a two-week homestand and travel to New Orleans, La., Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. tip against the New Orleans Privateers inside Lakefront Arena. The Blue Raiders will also battle Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe, both at home next week, during the three-game stretch against schools from the Pelican State.
MT enters the UNO contest with an 11-game winning streak, tied with Oklahoma for the seventh longest in the country. The Lady Raiders are 16-4 overall and remain the Sun Belt Conference's only undefeated team at 8-0 in league action. Middle Tennessee has received votes in both national polls in each of the last three weeks.
Junior Alysha Clark, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week, ranks second nationally with 24.0 points per game. She netted a game-high 25 points in helping the Blue Raiders garner a 91-51 victory over Arkansas State Wednesday.
New Orleans enters Saturday's contest with a 9-10 overall record and 4-4 mark in the conference. Head coach Amy Champion's squad captured a 64-59 road victory over Troy Wednesday. Jada Frazier leads the team with 11.6 ppg, followed closely by Brittany Helm at 11.4 ppg.
