MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Blue Raider track team will compete in its fifth meet of the season as it plays host to the Middle Tennessee Classic at Murphy Center on Saturday.
The event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with the weight throw and long jump and will conclude later that day at 2:40 p.m. with the one mile relay.
Teams from Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State, Eastern Kentucky, Maryland and Western Kentucky will compete.
This is the second weekend in a row Middle Tennessee is at home to play host to an indoor meet. Last Saturday, the team competed in the Blue Raider Invitational at Murphy Center. The meet was highlighted by the performance of sophomore Nyeisha Wright who posted two wins and a second place finish. Her performance earned her Sun Belt Conference Track Performer of the Week honors. It marked the second Performer of the Week for the team this season.
Brittany Cox, MeLyn Thompson, Zamzam Sangau and William Songock also won events for the Blue Raiders.
Both men's and women's teams were missing athletes due to injuries last weekend. Carl Morgan and Samuel Adade were sidelined with hamstring problems and Marla Bailey did not participate because of the flu.
Coach Dean Hayes said, "We had some injuries last weekend, but we look to have a full team back this weekend. Morgan will do the triple jump. Adade will run the 400 meters and Bailey will run the mile and 800 meters."
Meet results will be posted on goblueraiders.com Saturday afternoon after the meet.
