MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will look to extend its current 13-game winning streak at 5 p.m. Saturday when the Lady Raiders play host to ULM inside the Murphy Center in the first half of the only scheduled MT basketball doubleheader this season. The Blue Raider men will also face the Warhawks, slated to tip 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's contest.
The women's team enters Saturday's game with a four-and-a-half game cushion in the Sun Belt's East Division over Western Kentucky. The Lady Raiders are 18-4 overall and the only remaining undefeated team left in the conference at 10-0. The current 13-game streak is tied with Oklahoma as the third best nationally, trailing only Connecticut (20 games) and Bowling Green (17 games).
Junior Brandi Brown has paced MT in each of the last two games, netting a career-high 28 points and then pouring in 20 at New Orleans and against Louisiana-Lafayette, respectively. She has raised her scoring average to 11.0 points per game, joining classmate Alysha Clark in double figures. Clark boasts a 23.5 ppg mark, ranking second nationally behind James Madison's Dawn Evans who stands at 24.3 ppg.
Clark was recently announced as one of 20 Midseason Candidates for the Wooden Award.
The Warhawks will make the trip to Murfreesboro with a 12-8 overall and 5-4 Sun Belt record. ULM is coming off a 53-31 victory against FIU Wednesday. Lottie Moore paces the squad with 11.5 ppg, just ahead of backcourt mate Jesse Carrier's 10.0 ppg mark.
