TUCSON, Ariz. - Middle Tennessee junior golfer Kent Bulle was one of few bright spots for the Blue Raiders as they opened the spring season with a disappointing 16th-place finish at the Arizona Intercollegiate at Arizona National Golf Course.
Bulle capped the two-day, three-round event with a 2-under 69 in Tuesday's final round to turn in a Top 20 finish. He carded a 4-over 217 for the tournament after posting scores of 74 in each of the first two rounds and finished 19th overall.
The news wasn't as good for the Blue Raiders as a team. They turned in their highest score of the tournament with a 308 Tuesday and closed with a 56-over 908.
"We were totally unprepared for what we were facing here and that's my fault," Middle Tennessee Head Coach Whit Turnbow said. "This one is on me."
Craig Smith was Middle Tennessee's second-highest finisher. He shot a 14-over 227 and was tied for 58th. Jason Millard was in position to make a move up the leader board entering the final round but he shot an 11-over 82 and finished with a 231, followed by Rick Cochran (235) and Hunter Green (242).
