"As a team I think, overall, we fought hard in the match," said Head Coach Neil Stapp. "The courts were really fast and the crowd was extremely loud and those are things you just have to get used to when you play on the road."
Louisville opened the match by taking the doubles point. The Lady Raiders avoided a sweep, however, as the doubles tandem of Jennifer Klaschka and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom defeated Suzanna Gracanin and Leslie Stewart 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.
The Lady Raiders got another strong performance from senior Klaschka as she won her third consecutive match at No. 1 singles. She defeated Stewart 6-3, 6-3.
Freshman Siljestrom moved up to No. 5 singles, after playing her last two matches at No. 6, and had yet another strong performance. She defeated Gracanin 7-6, 7-5.
"I am extremely proud of Ann-Kristine," Stapp said. "She hung tough in the match and came up with a big win."
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Saturday as the Lady Raiders face No. 32 New Mexico. Match time is set for noon.
