Blue Raider soccer inks six student-athletes

Talented, versatile players highlight signees

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's soccer head coach Aston Rhoden announced the signing of six standout student-athletes to National Letters of Intent this week.

The signing class includes Jessica Gilchrist (McKinney, Texas), Emily Hancock (Swansea, Wales), Paige Goeglein (Fort Wayne, Ind.), Whitney Jorgenson (Olathe, Kan.), Allison Stallard (Colleyville, Texas) and Regina Thomas (Centennial, Colo.).

"With this class we wanted to increase the depth of our squad and have done so in every position." Rhoden said. "We expect each player to have a significant impact on our team and to challenge for a starting position immediately.

"Our coaching staff and the administration did an outstanding job in securing these fantastic student athletes. All are great students and have tremendous character. I can hardly wait to integrate them into our current team"

The Blue Raiders are set to open the fall 2009 campaign with a home exhibition match against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on August 21. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m. at Blue Raider Field.
