Doubles Tandem Upsets Fourth Ranked New Mexico Doubles TeamFebruary 12, 2005 · MT Media Relations
Klaschka and Sljestrom, who have only been paired for the last few weeks, shocked the Lobos No. 1 doubles team with the win. The fourth-ranked pair of Maja Kovacek and Iva Gersic fell to the Lady Raider tandem 8-5.
"The win at No. 1 doubles was huge for the program," said Head Coach Neil Stapp. "I was really happy with how Jenny and Ann-Kristin fought and came up with a great victory."
New Mexico made quick work in the singles, getting wins at one, two, four and six. The Lady Raiders, however, made a match of it with wins at number three and five.
The biggest win in singles came at number five, as Siljestrom improved to 4-0 on the season with the victory. She defeated Jennifer Ryba handily with a score of 6-2, 6-0.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Friday February 18 when the Lady Raiders travel to Chattanooga to take on UT-Chattanooga. Match-time is set for 4 p.m.
