McKenzie looks to remain perfect
February 13, 2009 · MT Athletic CommunicationsSenior Rob McKenzie remained perfect in his Middle Tennessee improving to 3-0 in dual match play with a 6-0, 7-6 (3) win over Tobias Reitz of Northwestern. McKenzie is 6-0 overall in singles this season.
The Blue Raiders will travel to Nashville, Tenn., to face the Commodores in their only match of the week.
Middle Tennessee is looking to rebound from a 4-3 loss in a battle against Northwestern a week ago.
Senior Robert McKenzie, junior Victor Melo and sophomore John Peers all performed well for the Blue Raiders against the Wildcats and will be asked to do the same on Saturday.
McKenzie remained perfect in his Middle Tennessee improving to 3-0 in dual match play with a 6-0, 7-6 (3) win over Tobias Reitz of Northwestern. McKenzie is 6-0 overall in singles this season.
Melo is 2-1 at the No. 1 position this season and is 5-1 overall. Melo has also performed well in doubles posting a 2-1 dual match record and is 5-1 overall.
Peers continues to add depth to the Blue Raiders this season. In dual matches, he is 3-0 playing both the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Peers is 7-3 overall this season in singles action. Peers has teamed with McKenzie in doubles action and the pair is 3-0 in dual matches.
The Blue Raiders will begin play against the Commodores at 12 p.m. at the Currey Tennis Center in Nashville, Tenn. Results will be available on goblueraiders.com.
