Nashville, Tenn.- The Nashville Sports Council tonight honored the best in middle Tennessee sports at the 11th Annual O'Charley's Dinner of Champions and the Blue Raider football program brought home one of the top awards.
The Blue Raiders received one of the Top 10 Sports Moments of 2008 with its upset of Maryland coupled with a dramatic last-second win over defending conference champions Florida Atlantic on ESPN2.
Head Coach Rick Stockstill received the award before more than 600 attendees at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel.
Middle Tennessee downed the ACC's Terps with a strong effort from quarterback Joe Craddock and a game-deciding 53-yard reception for a touchdown by freshman Malcolm Beyah.
Three weeks later, the Blue Raiders did the improbable in its first-ever nationally televised game from Floyd Stadium. With no time remaining, Craddock tossed a "Hail Mary" in the right corner of the endzone and Beyah came down with it to give Middle Tennessee a 14-13 win.
