MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis (4-6) dropped its first Sun Belt match of the season with a 6-1 loss to No. 47 South Alabama (9-1) Thursday at Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
South Alabama opened the match by sweeping the doubles point. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Andrea Kurekova and Maria Zivcicova from South Alabama defeated the Lady Raiders 45th ranked team of Jennifer Klaschka and Ann-Kristin Siljestrom 8-6 for the final point of the doubles.
The Lady Jaguars secured the match by picking up wins at three, four and five singles to lead 4-0 with three matches remaining. Middle Tennessee did pick up a point at No. 1 singles as Jennifer Klaschka won a marathon match 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 over South Alabama's Andrea Kurekova.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Friday when the Lady Raiders host Memphis at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
