Blue Raiders prepared for top ranked Louisville

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The men's tennis team will play host to No. 14 Louisville this weekend.

The Blue Raiders (7-6), currently ranked 58 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, will face the Cardinals at noon at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.

The Blue Raiders will turn to senior Robert McKenzie and sophomore John Peers to help lead the team. McKenzie has not lost a singles match since joining Middle Tennessee and is now 13-0 on the season. McKenzie is ranked 110 while Peers is currently 85th in the ITA poll.

Peers has won five straight singles matches and has only lost once since dual match play began in January.

Peers and McKenzie are also ranked in doubles at 34 even though the pair have not played together in a couple of weeks.

Louisville's Austen Childs is ranked 40th and Victor Maksimcuk is 74, both players are freshmen. Childs is also ranked 15th in doubles with Simon Childs. The Cardinal are 13-3 on the season.

Austen Childs has posted a 10-3 dual match record all at the No. 1 position which includes wins over Texas A&M's Conor Pollock (14), N.C. State's Jay Weinacker (55) and Drake's Maor Zirkin (116).

Victor Melo has also been performing well for the Blue Raiders posting wins over No. 8 Tobias Fanselow of No. 74 Old Dominion and No. 33 VCU's Benjamin Bouhana.

The match will begin at 12 p.m. at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Courts on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. Pizza and drinks will be provided for those in attendance. Live stats will be available on goblueraiders.com.

In the event of inclement weather in the Murfreesboro area on Saturday, the Blue Raiders' match will be moved to Nashboro Village in Nashville, Tenn., at 1 p.m. Check goblueraiders.com to find out if weather affects where the Blue Raiders will play.
