MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's 37th-ranked men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 52 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi late Saturday in a match forced inside due to rain.

With just three indoor courts, singles was played first in the match, the first of many disadvantages for the Blue Raiders.

Andreas Siljestrom, ranked 87th in singles, defeated Jeremy Blandin, 7-6 (4), 7-5, at No. 1, but the Blue Raiders would drop the next four singles matches.

Marco Born lost 6-3, 4-6, 5-10, to Andrey Kumantsov at No. 2, while Kai Schledorn dropped a 2-6, 2-6, decision at No. 3 to Raul Rivas. At No. 4 Anant Sitaram lost 5-7, 2-6, to Goncolo Figueirdo, and Greg Pollack dropped a 6-4, 5-7, 6-10, decision to David Plasencia, at No. 5.

Brandon Allan was the only other Middle Tennessee player to win, defeating Maxime Godin, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6.

"I was very disappointed with the whole match. We didn't play very well and had the advantage with Marco and Greg both up a set and a break, but we weren't able to finish both matches," head coach Dale Short said.

"It also worked against us playing super tiebreakers in the third sets as well as not playing doubles first."

Middle Tennessee returns to action March 19-20 against Louisiana-Lafayette and Rice in Houston, Texas.
