Lady Raiders Buchheim and Varnel Co-Champs at Doctor's Vision Center Invite
September 22, 2001 · MT Media RelationsThe two were won their way to the title game, but decided to share the title instead of playing each other on Sunday. Buchheim defeated College of Charleston's Renata Carmargo 6-4, 6-2 and Varnell defeated Elana Blanini of Methodist 7-5(7-5), 0-6, 7-5 to make it to the title match.
Sophomore Manon Kruse will be playing for the title in Flight A of the women's singles on Sunday. She defeated Medina Bajrambasic of Costal Carolina 6-1, 6-0.
Kruse and Varnell teamed in the doubles match in Flight A and will play in the semi-finals and finals on Sunday. Buchheim and Carien Venter will play in the finals of Flight B of the women's doubles as well on Sunday.
