Blue Raiders fall to Hawaii

McKenzie wins again

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team fell to No. 75 Hawaii 4-1 in its second match of the Blue Gray Tennis Classic.

The Blue Raiders lost the doubles point as Hawaii took two of the three matches. No. 51 sophomore John Peers and senior Robert McKenzie defeated Dennis Lajola and Andreas Weber 8-5 to post the only doubles victory.

In singles action, McKenzie performed well again. McKenzie, ranked 104, defeated No. 75 Dennis Lajola 6-4, 6-4 to notch the only Blue Raider singles win on the day.

Senior Victor Melo lost his match 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to No. 84 Leo Rosenberg in No. 3 singles while Peers had a no decision as his match was called in the third set.

Junior Alex McCann battled in his match with Jeff Fitch but fell in three sets 6-3, 5-7, 6-0.

The Blue Raiders will be back in action on Saturday, March 28 at 3 p.m. against Denver in Denver.
