Blue Raiders fall to Indiana State 5-1

Djananova posts lone win

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team fell to Indiana State 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders began the match with doubles as Indiana State took both doubles matches by scores of 8-1 and 8-5.

The Sycamores did not stop there leading Middle Tennessee the rest of the match. Junior Anna Djananova posted the only win for the Blue Raiders as she defeated Aleksandra Dzakula 6-3, 6-4.

Freshmen Marietta Bigus and Taylor Coffey along with senior Andrea Herrera each forced a third set before losing. Bigus lost 4-6, 6-3, 4-6. Coffey also lost her first set 2-6 before winning the second 6-3 to force the third set but fell 6-2 to lose the match.

Herrera was the only one to win her first set as she won 6-4 over Elmine Botes before losing the next two sets 6-4, 6-3.

The Blue Raiders will be back in action on Friday, March 27 when they travel to Denver to play Montana at 11 a.m.
