ATLANTA - Middle Tennessee junior forward Alysha Clark was named one of 40 finalists today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for the 2009 Division I State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
Clark, who was named as one of 52 regional finalists last week, is on the final list, which will be narrowed down to the 10-member team and announced at the Final Four in St. Louis, Mo., April 4.
She is the only representative from the Sun Belt Conference and is the second Blue Raider in as many years, joining Amber Holt last season, to be on the list.
Clark helped lead MT to a 28-6 record and appearance in the NCAA Tournament following the program's automatic bid for winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. She is the nation's leading scorer at 27.5 ppg, including a game-high 34 points at Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament to earn Player of the Game accolades from ESPN2.
The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native is the only remaining member from the six-person Regional Finalist list from Region 4. She is one of a dozen juniors among the final 40 players.
