March 20, 2005 · MT Media Relations
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Middle Tennessee suffered a heart-breaking 3-2 loss in 14 innings to Southwest Missouri here Sunday afternoon when Scott Nasby scored the game-winning run on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 14th.

The Blue Raiders (8-9) suffered their fourth straight loss but had a chance for the win after taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the 13th. Michael McKenry singled with one out and scored on Todd Martin's double to give the Blue Raiders a 2-1 lead but the Bears came back and tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

SMS (7-11) won the game in the bottom of the 14th when Chris Taylor drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs on a 3-2 count against Jeff Kasser (0-3), sending Nasby plateward.

Middle Tennessee starting pitcher Eric Blevins was outstanding, going 9-2/3 innings, allowing just one run, but he took a no-decision. Blevins set a career-high for innings pitched and left with the game tied 1-1 and two outs in the 10th inning.

SMS struck first with a run in the second, but Middle Tennessee tied the game in the seventh when Nate Jaggers drove home Eric McNamee with a RBI single to left. The score remained 1-1 until the Blue Raiders took the lead in the 13th.

Middle Tennessee was led by Jaggers, who went 3-for-6. McKenry was 2-for-4.

The Blue Raiders will return to action when they play at Lipscomb University Tuesday at 6 p.m.
