MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee rounded out regular season action with a 4-3 win over Belmont Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Raiders began the match by winning the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Senior Robert McKenzie and sophomore John Peers, ranked 29th, defeated Renato Antun and Fausto Rocha 8-1.
Senior Morgan Richard, playing his last home match, paired with freshman Matthew Langley to take an 8-5 win over Joao Paoliello and Rodrigo Amaral.
In singles action, No. 94 McKenzie won his match 6-2, 6-0 over Javier Rodriguez to put Middle Tennessee up 2-0.
Then Belmont got on the board as Rafael Matos defeated sophomore Kyle Wishing 6-0, 6-1. Langley lost his match 6-3, 6-3 to Rocha tying the match at 2.
Richard won his match over Amaral in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 giving Middle Tennessee a 3-2 lead. Peers clinched the match as he defeated former teammate Paoliello 3-6, 6-2, 6-0.
Middle Tennessee will compete in the Sun Belt Championships April 17-19 in Denton, Texas hosted by North Texas. More information on the tournament will be released as it becomes available.
