KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee junior forward Alysha Clark continues to add to her post-season honors after being selected as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's Women's College Basketball Player of the Year. TSWA president Phil Kaplan of the Knoxville News heads the organization.
Clark, a 5-10 junior forward, led the nation in scoring at 27.5 points per game. She was named a Second Team All-American by CBSSports.com, Third Team All-American by the AP and an honorable mention All-American on the State Farm Coaches' All Team.
Clark also collected Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year accolades from the Sun Belt Conference. Clark scored a school-record 50 points against Troy and later added 45 points against Western Kentucky to set a Murphy Center standard.
Other top college basketball honors handed out by the TSWA were Men's Coach of the Year (John Calipari, Memphis), Women's Coach of the Year (Mark Campbell, Union) and Men's Player of the Year (Lester Hudson, UT-Martin).
The four honorees will be officially honored July 10 during the TSWA awards luncheon at the main office in Hermitage.
