Blue Raiders top rival Hilltoppers 4-0

Will play Denver in SBC tourney semi-finals Saturday night

DENTON, Texas - Top seeded Middle Tennessee took care of business to begin the Sun Belt Championships as it defeated eighth-seeded Western Kentucky 4-0 on Saturday morning.

The No. 60 Blue Raiders began play by sweeping the doubles point. Sophomore John Peers and senior Robert McKenzie defeated Thomas Krug and Andy True 8-4 to hand the point to Middle Tennessee.

Then junior Victor Melo won his match 6-3, 6-1 over Currie Martin while No. 104 Peers defeated True 6-2, 6-2 to put Middle Tennessee within one point.

Sophomore Kyle Wishing clinched the match for the Blue Raiders as he defeated Quinn Saine 6-1, 6-0.

The Blue Raiders will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. when it faces Denver, the fourth seed, in the semi-final match of the SBC Championships.
