Men's Tennis Wins Again, 5-2

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee swept the doubles point and Brandon Allan won the deciding match in a 5-2 victory over Georgia State Saturday at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.

The 21st-ranked Blue Raiders improved to 13-3 on the season with their third straight win.

Middle Tennessee won all three doubles matches to start the dual outing, including Andreas Siljestrom and Marco Born remaining undefeated.

Siljestrom and Born, ranked 19th nationally this week, defeated Clarence Boyd and Anze Cevka, 8-3, at No. 1. Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn, ranked 41st, won 8-4 at No. 2 over Martin Stiegwardt and Jacek Twarowski, while Greg Pollack and Anant Sitaram defeated Jaime Rodriguez and Matija Sulin, 8-6, at No. 3.

In singles Schledorn won 6-2, 7-6 (2), over Boyd at No. 3, but the Panthers picked up their first point with Stiegwardt winning 6-3, 6-4, over Born at No. 2.

Pollack then defeated Sulin, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, at No. 6, before Allan clinched the match with a 7-5, 7-6 (6), triumph over Frank Suro at No. 5.

Siljestrom, ranked 88th in singles, then won 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-7, at No. 1 over Rodriguez, before Cevka defeated Sitaram at No. 4, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

"We didn't play all that well but picked up another win, and that's always encouraging," head coach Dale Short said. "Kai, Greg and Brandon all played well in singles, and now we have to get ready for a big trip."

Middle Tennessee hits the road next week to face Louisiana-Lafayette and Tulane Friday and Saturday.
