MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's volleyball program has inked its sixth and only junior college athlete in Alyssa Wistrick as announced by head coach Matt Peck on Wednesday.

Wistrick, a 6-foot-0 outside hitter and middle blocker, of Longview, Wash., played the last two seasons at College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho and was highly recruited following her sophomore campaign.

In 2008, Wistrick was named Second Team All-America by the National Junior College Athletic Association and First Team All-Region 18. Wistrick played in 34 matches averaging 2.93 kills per set with an attack percentage of .472. Defensively, she was second on the team with 90 blocks averaging 1.03 per set.

"Our team just improved tremendously with the addition of Alyssa. We are so excited to have her join our team. We have been interested in Alyssa since she was in 10th grade. We initially offered her a while back and I am so glad we were patient and waited for her to make her decision," head coach Matt Peck said. "Having Alyssa will give us yet another terminator; however, she can terminate on the outside or in the middle. She is an outstanding fit for our program."

As a freshman, Wistrick led the Golden Eagles to a 10th-place finish at the national tournament while earning First Team All-America honors. She led the team throughout the season as she was second in hitting percentage, third in kills per game and third in blocks per game in the region.

Wistrick was the only freshman named First Team All-America by the NJCAA and one of two named by the AVCA that season.

CSI was ranked as high as second in the country in 2008 as Wistrick was named First Team All-Region 18 both seasons in addition to a number of All-Tournament honors.

Prior to College of Southern Idaho, Wistrick was a two-sport athlete at R.A. Long High School. As a senior, she led her high school team to a district championship and a sixth-place finish at state and received first team all-league and all-state honors.
