MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders continue a school-record long five-game homestand when the Murray State Racers visit Blue Raider Soccer Field at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The match will be the final tune-up before the Blue Raiders begin Sun Belt action Friday of this week against Florida International.

The Blue Raiders and Murray State have met just once previously, with MT taking a 3-0 victory on October 14, 2000. In that match, Megan Holsten assisted on the game's first goal in the fifth minute of action, and Sheri Robbins added MT's second goal just after halftime on the road against the Racers.

MT split a pair of matches over the weekend, defeating SEC foe Alabama, 2-1, on Saturday. Lisa Langrish got the Blue Raiders on the board, converting a penalty kick in the 29th minute. MT held a 2-0 halftime lead after Emily Carter scored her first goal of the season in the 39th minute. The Blue Raiders held off a late charge from the visiting Crimson Tide to take the victory, MT's first over an SEC opponent in six tries.

The Blue Raiders dropped Sunday's match to Eastern Illinois, 2-1, in a hard-fought struggle for both squads. EIU scored in the eighth minute of play and controlled most of the action for the match, but MT tied the score midway through the second half. Sophomore Lindsey Bopp, who tallied an assist in both games for the weekend, fed freshman Ashley Hicks with a cross and Hicks scored her first career goal. But the visiting Panthers netted the game-winner in the 81st minute to take the road victory.

Middle Tennessee opens conference action Friday against defending Sun Belt champion Florida International at 4 p.m. The Blue Raiders also take on Lipscomb at home this weekend at 1 p.m. Sunday.
