BATON ROUGE, La. - Middle Tennessee senior Blake Bivens is tied for third place after first round action Friday at the LSU Spring Invitational. Bivens shot a 71 in the first round and is one under par at the par 72 University Club. He is tied with University of Texas Arlington's Jordan Krantz and LSU's Brandon Aydlett. Bivens is two strokes off the leader, Arkansas-Little Rock's Patrick Sullivan who shot 69 and is jus one stroke behind Texas-Arlington's Tyrone Mordt.
As a team, the Blue Raiders are in sixth place after shooting a first round 295 in the 17-team field. The Blue Raiders are just one stroke behind Sun Belt foe South Alabama who shot a 294 in the first day of action.
Middle Tennessee's Josh Nelms is in 17th place after the first 19 holes. With a 73, he shot just one over par in the first 18 holes of the tournament.
The Blue Raiders will play the second round at the tournament on Saturday morning.
