NEW ORLEANS - Middle Tennessee's Carl Morgan was named male field performer of the week and teammate Festus Chemaoi was named male track performer of the week by the Sun Belt Conference for their individual accomplishments at the Penn Relays last weekend.

Morgan finished first out of field of 20 competitors in the triple jump with a leap of 50-6.75 giving him his second straight NCAA Midwest Regional qualifying mark in two weeks in the event. His jump was the longest in the conference to date this season. He also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 24-6.25, earning another NCAA Regional qualifying mark.

Chemaoi came in first out of 31 entries in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:17.79, setting a Blue Raider record in the event. His time surpassed Ross Dowland's record of 14:20.84 set in 1981. It was the second fastest 5000 meter in the Sun Belt Conference this season, trailing only South Alabama's Zac Edwards.

Morgan and Chemaoi will return to action in two weeks as Middle Tennessee will play host to the Sun Belt Championships at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium May 8-10. Full results will be available at sunbeltsports.org and goblueraiders.com.
