Blue Raiders fall 7-6 to Trojans on Sunday

The Blue Raiders trailed by one headed into the top of the ninth and when play resumed could not get anything going ending the game on a foul fly to the first baseman.
Junior Ben Darlington had the only multiple hit day for the Blue Raiders as he was 2 for 3 with a home run and scored two runs.
"There were two big innings, one by us and one by them, and that was it. There were opportunities but we just couldn't come through. The bottom of the order did pretty well but they out pitched us in the top of the order," Peterson said.
Middle Tennessee had eight hits on the day with five of those being for extra bases leaving just five runners on base.
Junior Chad Edwards received the start working five innings allowing five runs on seven hits and left the game in line for the win.
Freshman Justin Guidry entered the game in the sixth working one-third of an inning allowing one run on one hit and then sophomore Nick Montgomery entered the game and allowed one run on two hits in one third of an inning.
Middle Tennessee then brought in junior Coty Woods who allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings of work.
Troy's Travis Burge picked up the win as he allowed six runs on seven hits in six innings of work. Chris Sorce entered the game in relief and picked up his fifth save of the season after allowing just one hit in three innings of work.
Troy had - hits on the day with three extra base hits and four players having at least two hits.
Troy put a run on the board in the first inning after a single up the middle by Williams scored Watson from second. Then a double by Tyre added to more runs as runners scored from first and second. The Trojans took a 3-0 lead after three hits in the first inning.
Middle Tennessee answered quickly scoring two runs in the second after a long ball to left field by McDade. Dennis tripled with runners at first and third to add two more runs and hand the Blue Raiders a 4-3 lead. Middle Tennessee ended the inning scoring five runs on four hits.
Darlington added a run to the Middle Tennessee total as he hit a solo shot to left field in the fourth.
Troy scored a run in the sixth after Tyre scored from second on a single to left field by Bryant. Williams singled to right field allowing Sullivan, who walked, to score from second. Another single down the right field line by Hoyle allowed the tying run, Bryant to come in from third and knot the game at 6.
Then Woods walked the bases loaded and then gave a base on balls to Henry allowing a run to score and hand the lead back to Troy 7-6. The Trojans took the lead after scoring four runs on four hits.
The Blue Raiders will have the week off before facing Mississippi Valley State in non-conference action on May 8-10.
