DENTON, Texas - Middle Tennessee softball has been honored for the second-straight year by the Sun Belt for achieving the highest team grade-point average of any school in the conference as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
"It is a tremendous accomplishment for our players to pick up this award," head coach Sue Nevar said. "It is a testament to all the hard work that they and everyone involved in our program and the university puts towards academics. I am very proud of each and every one of them."
The Blue Raiders have now received the award in four of the last five seasons. They have been previously honored in 2005, 2006 and 2008.
"This is part of developing a tradition of not only athletic but academic success," Nevar said. "To truly be a Blue Raider you have to get it done not only on the field, but in the classroom as well."
