COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Middle Tennessee junior forward Alysha Clark is one of 29 collegiate players headed to Colorado Springs, Colo., beginning Thursday for the 2009 Women's World University Games Team Trials it was announced by USA Basketball. The pool of 29 was extended invitations by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee and will be paired to 12 roster spots for the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, in July.
Clark, who completed the 2008-09 campaign as the nation's leading scorer at 27.5 ppg and earned All-American honors from three outlets, is one of 10 forwards competing for the coveted roster spots. She is the lone representative from the Sun Belt Conference and a college or university based in Tennessee.
The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native garnered Sun Belt Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-SBC accolades in her first season in a Blue Raider uniform. She helped lead the squad to a 28-6 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time in school history.
The trials will take place May 14-17 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
