COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior Robert McKenzie put up a fight in the first round of the NCAA Individual Championships which began on Wednesday.
McKenzie forced a third set with New Mexico's Johnny Parkes before falling by scores of 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
The Melbourne, Australia native ends his singles season with a 21-2 record with both of his losses coming against ranked opponents.
McKenzie's season is not done however as he will pair with sophomore John Peers on Thursday, May 21 in doubles play at the NCAA Individual Championships. The pair will have a rematch with Austen and Simon Childs of Louisville in the first round. Peers and McKenzie lost to the pair in a tie-breaker 9-8 (7).
