Trish White started game one in the pitching circle and had one of her best outings of the season. The sophomore from Mt. Juliet, Tenn. tossed 3.1 scoreless innings allowing just three hits and struck out two. White also gave the Blue Raiders the lead in the bottom of the third inning off an RBI single that plated Jennifer Grybash who reached on a double.
The Blue Raider lead was short-lived as Western Kentucky put two runs on the board in the top of the fifth thanks to a two run homerun by Shelly Floyd. The long ball was hit off Middle Tennessee hurler Jennifer Dorais how entered the game in the fourth inning. Western Kentucky would add one more run in the sixth inning to seal the game.
The second game was almost a carbon copy of the first game, as again White got the call to start the game. This game, however, Western Kentucky scored first thanks to an RBI single by Bailey Rolfs.
Middle Tennessee tied the game in the top of the fifth in the exact same scenario as game one. Grybash doubled to lead off the inning and White knocked her in off an RBI single.
White lasted three innings before Dorais replaced her in the fourth. It was Dorais that gave up a three RBI single to Natasha Sevco to break the 1-1 tie and give the Toppers the lead and eventual win.
Dorais took the loss in both games and falls to 0-7 on the year. White led the Blue Raiders at the plate in both games as she went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Grybash was 2-for-7 on the day with two runs scored and also had two doubles.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Wednesday when the team travels to Clarksville, Tenn. to face Austin Peay. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
